WISPPA'S ACCOMPLISHMENTS
WISPPA regularly has guest speakers at the monthly meetings sharing information of interest to our community. Past speakers include: South Pasadena Mayors and Council Members, South Pasadena City Manager, Pasadena City College Board of Trustees members, Water Council Chair and Vice Chair, Police Chief, School Superintendent, Documentary film makers, South Pas Water Conservation Analyst, Moms for Family and Community, League of Women Voters, Representatives from the Teen Center, and many others.
WISPPA has been in the forefront of addressing the issue of massage parlor proliferation not only just in South Pasadena, but in the entire State of California. Click here to see our issues page
WISPPA sponsors the City Council Candidate Forum..
WISPPA cosponsored with the League of Women Voters a Pros & Cons Presentation about important ballot measures.
WISPPA has been very successful in encouraging women to run for City Council and to serve on City Commissions. WISPPA co-sponsored with the NWPC a number of Campaign workshops.
The Public Works Commission proposed by WISPPA, is now a functioning body helping monitor the many public works projects underway in the city.
We have expanded and improved our website in order to provide our membership and our community with key information regarding issues (click here to see the issues page) and events concerning our city (Click here to see upcoming events) . The website has a FYI page with easy links to city government information and city news sources (click here to see city info and news).
WISPPA members provided continued, consistent attendance and input at City Council Meetings, Commission meetings, Ad Hoc Committees and city budget meetings.
WISPPA has been very involved in creating a community garden.
We sponsored and co-sponsored the following events:
A number of WISPPA members have received honors including Woman of Distinction Award, Women Mean Business Award, and Woman of the Year Award, Woman at Work Award . Click here to read more about the wonderful women who received the awards.
WISPPA was honored with the 2011 Image Award. We also received the Neighborhood Award for the 2012 Festival of Balloons Parade.

- Lorena Manriquez, Filmmaker, Director & Producer of “Ulises’ Odyssey” (story of Lorena’s family under the Pinochet regime in Chile)
- League of Women Voters – Film “CA Women Win the Vote” (celebration of Women’s Suffrage in CA)
- Showing of “Miss Representation” in partnership with South Pasadena High School.
- Showing of "My Mother's Voice by Kay Mouradian (at the 2012 Cocktail Party)
- Showing of the award winning documentary SANDS OF SILENCE: Waves of Courage This special screening was in honor of Human Trafficking Prevention Month and National Human Trafficking Awareness Day
- Co-Sponsored "HERstory" presented by the Pasadena Commission on the Status Of Women Honoring Two Remarkable Women In Celebration of Women's History Month

- Supporting the Arts in our Community
- Participating at the celebration of South Pasadena's 125th birthday party where we honored past and present women city council members and mayors.
